Andre Santos

Born in São Paulo, Brazil and started dancing when he was nine years old at the Art Dancing Group and received a scholarship to join the Pavilhão D Dance School, where he studied for six years. During this time Andre won gold medals at Joinville Dance Festival (2004, 2005 and 2006) Passo de Arte (2004, 2005 and 2006) and CBDD Competition at the Brazilian Council of Dance (2005). In 2007 Andre was a finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix in New York  where he won a full scholarship to the New Zealand School of Dance and subsequently graduated in 2009. During his time at New Zealand School of Dance he won second runner up and audience choice at the Alana Haines Australasian Awards in Auckland, New Zealand. Andre made his debut with West Australian Ballet as a guest artist for the Company’s season of Romeo and Juliet.

What inspired you to start dancing?
"My culture. Being Brazilian you're always surrounded by dancing (Samba, forro etc) but I always loved it and decided to take it a step further!"
