We want you to have greater access to all that we do!
Over 6,000 people participate in West Australian Ballet's Community Programmes annually, from school children, teachers, fellow artists, volunteers and the general public. These programmes provide the opportunity for anyone to learn and be touched by the magic of dance.
Be Active Jumpstart Dress Rehearsals, proudly supported by Lotterywest
West Australian Ballet has hosted Be Active Jumpstart Dress Rehearsals for more than ten years. With the support of Healthway, promoting the Be Active message, and Lotterywest, the company has given in excess of 30,000 tickets away to members of our community who are disadvantaged in some way, whether it be physically, socially or economically.
Some of the organisations we work with include Learn, Department of Child Protection, Starlight Foundation and CanTeen. If you are interested in learning more about this programme, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Lotterywest Community Matinee Series
The Lotterywest Community Matinee Series was initiated in 2010 for community groups with barriers of a social, cultural, physical and/or economic nature to overcome, in order to access and experience the Ballet.
In 2010, community matinees were hosted for refugees and emerging migrant communities, people who are blind or visually impaired, and the elderly community. In 2011 we welcomed the hearing-impaired community and those living with cancer.
Artistic Director Ivan Cavallari says, "My wish is to provide as many West Australians the chance to experience beauty and diversity...a significant repertoire and some of the best artists in the world... it is my hope that these community matinees will give an even greater number of people the opportunity to join an amazing ride."
