Ballet favourite Sergey Pevnev promoted to Leading Artist

Much loved dancer Sergey Pevnev has been promoted to Leading Artist by Ivan Cavallari, after a superb opening night performance as Albrecht for West Australian Ballet's Giselle. "Sergey is a strong and reliable dancer... a hard worker and a great artist with fine technique," said Cavallari.

Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Sergey trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy before working with Eifman Contemporary Ballet Theatre, Chamber Ballet Theatre, Novgorod region Philharmonic and Konstantin Tachkin Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre.

Sergey joined West Australian Ballet as full time member in 2004 after performing as a guest artist in 2003. Sergey's favourite roles include Rodolfo in La Boheme, Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Julian Craster in The Red Shoes. Sergey has received a Diploma from the Perm International Competition and in 2008 he was nominated for a WA dance award.
